Printable Braille alphabet chart
A clean, one-page Braille alphabet chart you can print at home or download as a PDF. It shows all 26 letters with their 6-dot cells, the numbers, the capital indicator and the common punctuation marks, so you can put it on a wall, tape it to a desk or hand it to a student.
The PDF is a single US Letter page. The print button opens your browser dialog with the chart already laid out, so choose "Save as PDF" there if you prefer to pick your own paper size.

How to print it
- Press the Download PDF button to get a ready-made file, or use Print this page to send it straight to your printer.
- For the PDF, choose "Fit to page" so the chart is not split across two sheets.
- If you print the web page, uncheck "Headers and footers" in the browser dialog to remove the URL and the date.
How to use the chart
Read the cell as a picture of six positions, numbered like this:
1 4
2 5
3 6
Each letter is a set of raised dots inside that cell. The letter "c" is dots 1-4, which is the top-left dot and the top-right dot. Once you know the six positions, the alphabet becomes easy to read because the letters follow a pattern: a to j use the four upper dots, k to t add dot 3, and u to z add dot 6.
For the full story behind the pattern, read what is Braille. If you want the same information in a table, the Braille alphabet chart page has every letter, number, punctuation mark and contraction in one reference, and the numbers and punctuation guide covers the digit and capital rules in depth.
Frequently asked questions
Is the printable Braille chart really free?
Yes. There is no email to leave and nothing to unlock. Download the PDF or print the page as many times as you need, for a classroom, a family or your own reference.
What paper size does the PDF use?
The PDF is a single US Letter page (8.5 by 11 inches). Most printers can scale it to A4 with "Fit to page", and the web version prints correctly on either size.
Can I use this chart to learn Braille?
It is a reference chart, not a course. For a structured plan with practice exercises, see the guide to learning Braille, which builds from this same alphabet over a 12-week plan.
Does the chart include contracted Grade 2 Braille?
The printable page keeps to Grade 1, the uncontracted alphabet, because that is what a beginner needs on the wall. The Grade 1 versus Grade 2 comparison lists the most useful contractions if you work with contracted text.
